The most common cause of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, more commonly known as male or female pattern hair loss. Affecting about 70% of men and 40% of women.

Regenera Activa® is one of the newest revolutionary methods to treat male and female type hair loss. It is based on introduction of the patient's own hair tissue micrografts (autologous cell transplantation) from the donor area (area in the back of scalp with increased hair density and less subject to the negative effects of dihydrotestosterone) into the areas of hair loss to stimulates the hair roots. Using the Regenera®, a high concentration of cells is calibrated through a mechanical process and added filtrate to increase their elements and concentration.

A three-step procedure that takes approximately 60 min with results may be visible as early as 3 months. It uses your own hair that contains cells to activate the follicles around the balding area. . Thus, it uses your own body’s ability to treat hair loss.

Step 1: Schedule a hair loss consultation. At Osei-Tutu Dermatology & Hair Restoration, we believe in a holistic approach to hair loss. Often multiple treatment modalities, including Regenera Activa, are needed for desired results.

Step 2: Local anesthesia is applied to the nape of the neck and with the use of a punch biopsy tool, 3 skin samples (2.5mm diameter) are obtained.

Step 3: Samples are collected and then mechanically processed and filtered in a specialized device that will isolate the progenitor cells and growth factors.

Step 4: The prepared suspension is reintroduced into the scalp using fine tiny needles. This initiates the regenerative process, stimulating blood vessel formation and repair of hair follicles.

Regenera Activa AMT® can be successful in managing many forms of hair loss including androgenetic alopecia (male/female pattern hair loss), traction alopecia, telogen effluvium, and accelerate growth after hair restoration (transplantation) procedures. PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:

You hair should be freshly washed for your consultation and treatment. You can apply a small amount of styling agent on the ends of the hair to keep the hair soft.

POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS: HAIR WASH: Wait 24 hours before washing your hair again. SWELLING: This is a procedure where swelling may occur and is part of the healing process. The degree of swelling is generally very mild. But may vary from mild to pronounced. To minimize swelling for the next 3 days:

• Sleep with your head elevated at a 45 degree angle by sleeping in a recliner or using at least 3 pillows supporting your back and neck in bed.

• Apply crushed ice packs every two hours while awake as frequently as possible between your eyebrows and temples. Never apply ice directly to the treated area.

BRUISING: Bruising is uncommon after your procedure and may show up a day or two later. SHEDDING: Some patients will experience increased hair shedding after your procedure. Shedding may begin immediately and can last for several weeks. This is a temporary reaction to the injections and the hair should re- grow in 4-8 months. ​ INFECTION: Infection after is very rare. A low-grade temperature (99-100 degree F) for a day or two after your treatment is not unusual, but should be reported to Dr. Osei-Tutu immediately. ​ ALLERGIC REACTIONS: Allergic reactions are very rare as we are using your own tissues.

**NOTE**: Do not take any Anti-Inflammatory medication (i.e Advil, motrin. naproxin, doxycyline, etc.) the day of your procedure and 2 weeks after. ​
