Smit Courtney

is a natural hair-preservation specialist and aesthetician whose work is centered on the health of the hair, scalp, and skin.

As a New York State Licensed Natural Hair Care Professional, Certified Hair Loss Specialist, and Tricopat Technician, Smit specializes in gentle, low-tension protective and camouflage styles that support the hair and scalp. A graduate of Magic Fingers Natural Hair Institute, she expanded her knowledge through the Stylists Training, Researching and Networking with Dermatologists (S.T.R.A.N.D.) workshop. She is also trained in head spa therapy, hair-loss care, and hair-preservation techniques under the guidance of Dr. Achiamah Osei-Tutu and tutelage  Master Natural Hair Stylist Diane C. Bailey.

 

Smit’s interest in aesthetics developed naturally through the trusted relationships she formed while caring for her patients’ hair and scalp. The time she spent listening to their concerns often led to meaningful conversations about skin health and the desire to feel more confident in their appearance. Recognizing how closely hair, scalp, and skin health are connected inspired Smit to broaden her expertise and provide a more complete and nurturing approach to care.

 

Within our physician-led practice, Smit focuses on gentle, personalized aesthetic treatments that help optimize skin health, improve tone and texture, and restore a healthy, natural glow. She continues to learn, grow, and explore innovative approaches alongside Dr. Osei-Tutu, with particular attention to concerns such as hyperpigmentation, acne, and visible signs of aging.

 

Known for her gentle touch, patience, warmth, and ability to listen, Smit meets each patient where they are and creates a calm, supportive experience in which they feel understood and genuinely cared for.
